SSOVA IS BACK!!!
The only tour in Florida run by the players, for the players will be back in action this summer! Please help us spread the word and we hope to see you down at the beach! Check-In / Play Format / Cost
SAT- MEN's & WOMEN's OPEN- Open divisions will be played in double elimination Olympic Crossover format, just like the pros, with match play in both winner's and loser's brackets (1st two games to 21, 3rd if necessary to 15, no cap). Due to the length of time necessary to finish this format, it is very important to check in and start play on time! SATURDAY OPEN CHECK IN WILL BE FROM 7:00-8:00 AM, FIRST SERVE AT 8:30 SHARP! Prize money will be awarded to the top 4 teams- (1)1st, (1)2nd, and (2)3rds. Please realize that due to limited daylight it may be necessary to bring some teams back on Sunday to finish the event (this is usually only a factor in the men's division).
SAT- MEN's & WOMEN's AA, A, B- The lower divisions of the tournament will all be played in pool play format, followed by a single elimination playoff. All pool play games will be one game, win by two. The length of the games will depend on the number of teams in a pool. Depending on time, playoff games may be played in match play format. SATURDAY LOWER DIVISION CHECK IN WILL BE FROM 8:00-9:00 AM, FIRST SERVE AT 9:30 SHARP! Prizes will be awarded to the top teams (eight or more teams- top three receive prizes, less than eight top two). Prizes will be from SSOVA Volleywear, SMACK Sportswear, and WILSON Sporting Goods!
SUN- CO-ED & JUNIOR's- All Co-Ed and Juniors play will be in pool play format, followed by a single elimination playoff. All pool play games will be one game, win by two. The length of the games will depend on the number of teams in a pool. Depending on time, playoff games may be played in match play format. We could all use a little extra sleep after the player party Saturday night, so SUNDAY CHECK IN WILL BE FROM 8:30-9:30, FIRST SERVE AT 10:00 SHARP! Be sure to check the dates on the bottom of the page if you are playing juniors to ensure that you sign up for the right age division! Remember the outdoor age groupings are different from your indoor ones! COST - The cost to play in the Adult tournament will be $62.50 per team. The cost to play in the Junior tournament will be $42.50 per team. IF YOU PAY THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT THE COST WILL BE $65.00, OPEN PLAYERS MUST STILL PRE-PAY! Official SSOVA Player's Party- If you haven't attended one of our legendary player parties yet, you are missing half the fun! The player party will be held right next to the tournament site, at Frenchy's Rockaway Grill! Come have a few drinks and tell your friends about how it was all your partner's fault.
Directions to Rockaway Pier- Take Highway 60 West all the way to the Clearwater Pier, and go right at the Roundabout. The tournament will be held right in front on Frenchy's, which is about 1/2 mile up on the left hand side.
*Juniors Age Divisions- (Age divisions may be combined based upon the number of entrants)U20 - Year Born: January 1, 1986 - December 31, 1987
U18 - Year Born: January 1, 1988 - December 31, 1989
U16 - Year Born: January 1, 1990 - December 31, 1991
U14 - Year Born: January 1, 1992 - December 31, 1993
U12 - Year Born: January 1, 1994 - December 31, 1995
**Open Prize Money- $1000 Men's Open purse is based on a 16 team minimum, $500 Women's Open purse is based on an 8 team minimum. If there are fewer than the minimum number of registrants, the purse will be equal to 90% of the total registration fees ($54 times the number of teams entered). The good news is that if there are more than 10 women's teams, or more than 20 men's teams, the purse will increase!
